How To Deal With Comment Spam Effectively

Comment spam is unwanted comments that tries to drive visitors to another website or increase the site's PR(PageRank).Comment spam is not good for your blog as it affects the reading experience of your readers.Below is a list of ways to deal with comment spam effectively.
  1. Install a comment analysis plug-in such as Askimet. It collects comments from lots of blogs and then blocks comments which it thinks are spam.
  2. Enable nofollows settings on your blog so that all the links on the webpage will not be indexed by Google .Hence, the spammer's site would not get a higher PR.
  3. Adding CAPTCHA into your comment form.CAPTCHA stands for Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart.CAPTCHA is a type of method to ensure that the commenter is a human by asking users to complete a test.If the solution is correct, the user is presumed to be a human as computers are unable to solve the CAPTCHA.You can get a free CAPTCHA by going to reCAPTCHA.net
